Applying what I've learned
How do you like the finishing touch to my newly painted bathroom? Very labor intensive, but very rewarding. I did my best to transform Jamie and Rosanne's fabric bowl technique to a fabric rug. It has a few high spots, but I think once I take the rubber hammer to it and scotchguard it, I can then pronounce it finished.
3 yards of fabric, 6 colors 1/2 yard each, and over 60 yards of clothesline. Last count I had over a dozen bobbins emptied in this project. I lost track of time (as well as bobbins).
Actually this has been my therapy break the past few days as I've tried to get my house back in order after almost 3 weeks of being either on the road or entertaining guests. It's amazing how long it takes to find a new normal or return to routine. Working on a project that can be completed in a few days when taking a break is most rewarding. And the colors of this rug, and my bathroom, just make me happy.
It's the simple things in life that are sometimes the most rewarding!
I agree that the simplest things are the most rewarding!
ReplyDeleteI love your new mat, one of a kind! Enjoy it!
Happy 4th of July!

I love your mat.....what do you put on the back of it to keep it from slip sliding away???
ReplyDeleteHave fun with normal!
Karen, that is GORGEOUS! You'll thank yourself for all the hard work every time you see it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I never thought about doing this for a rug! I'm working on a rainbow-colored basket now. I love it!

PS: Mailed your package this morning.
Very, very nice. It'll flatten out after you've walked on it a few times. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteI just love your new bath mat! I think this is agreat adaptation of the cloth bowl idea, and a whole lot more useful. And it's probably a lot easier to match colors this way. You've given me the idea of doing this, along with making a shower curtain to match.
ReplyDeleteWhere can someone get the directions for making these bowls?
